Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was natural for questions to be asked about his position following another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, representing the club's poorest run after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of backing from above,” Slot stated.

“It's important to turn it around and secure a win naturally but if you are in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. This isn't the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the club's leadership, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard exchanges I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Response

The manager highlighted familiar shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don’t even need to wait to think about it. I’m past being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with outcomes so bad.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we’re always going to fight.”

“Our aim is to get this team return to the top, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
