Documentary photographer the journalist has been lost his life in a drone attack by Russian forces in eastern Ukraine, as stated by the Ukraine's defense forces.
A Ukrainian photojournalist, a Ukrainian photojournalist working alongside Mr Lallican, was hurt in the identical incident on the perimeter of Komyshuvakha.
The European and International Federations of Journalists said this was the first occurrence of a reporter being fatally wounded by a unmanned aerial vehicle in Ukraine.
Mr Lallican, a photographer based in Paris, had been documenting the hostilities since the early stages of the invasion - a month after Russia began its comprehensive assault - resulting in him receiving the esteemed Victor Hugo Award for photojournalism in 2024.
The media professionals had been stationed with the Ukrainian military unit near Komyshuvakha, around about 12 miles from the frontline, at the moment of the incident.
According to a release from the photography organization, both photographers were equipped with protective clothing, and their protective armor had distinguishing features with the term PRESS on them.
A witness informed journalistic entities that the noise of chainsaws - being used to construct fortifications - may have obscured the sound of the approaching UAV.
The unit's media representative, Anastasia Haletska - who was also hurt in the assault - said she managed to apply tourniquets to Mr Ivanchenko, before both of them were evacuated to medical facilities in the adjacent city of Kramatorsk.
Mr Lallican was fatally wounded immediately, she said. Mr Ivanchenko is in a non-critical condition, but had to have his leg amputated.
French President Emmanuel Macron offered condolences to Mr Lallican and said he had been a victim of a Russian drone attack.
"I express my sincere condolences to his family, close friends, and all his fellow journalists who, risking their lives, inform us and bear witness to the truth of conflict," he stated on digital channels.
Mr Lallican's work has been featured by multiple media organizations, including French newspapers Le Monde and Le Figaro.
His documentation of the conflict, which follows the "impact of the conflict", has taken him across the country, from the southwestern area, in the coastal zone, to Kharkiv, in the north-east, based on his digital presence.
Families fleeing in the initial stages of the conflict, senior citizens refusing to leave their homes under artillery attacks, and military personnel engaged and surviving in battle areas appear in his visual records, among numerous individuals whose lives have been upended by the military engagement.
According to the media organizations, numerous reporters have been killed since the conflict started.
In a combined announcement, they said: "We offer respect to the bravery of this journalist and all the media workers who keep reporting on the situation. We demand that the those responsible for his death be brought to justice."
The Ukrainian journalists' union president, president of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, alleged that Moscow was "intentionally targeting those attempting to record atrocities".
"Among media professionals, every visit to combat areas is a mortal danger. This journalist faced this peril repeatedly, visiting the war zone, traveling to Donbas, documenting what many prefer not to see," he said in a release.
"He established an imagery link between the international community and Ukrainian reality. Now he himself has become part of this devastating account".
The Moscow authorities has offered no statement on the incident.
