The Liverpool midfielder has disclosed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the entire Liverpool squad following the fallout from his public comments.
The striker was dropped from a vital match following voicing frustrations and claiming his relationship with manager had broken down.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘If I’ve affected anybody, I'm sorry.’”
The manager has refused to reveal on whether he received a personal apology from the 33-year-old forward.
He emphasized that the dressing room atmosphere remained positive. “He was the exact same Mo, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” he continued.
The midfielder also suggested that a teammate fighting for a place is preferable. “I understand there are specific approaches you can handle situations,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just sit out, then I think that’s concerning.”
Liverpool's form have stayed unbeaten in the period after the interview fallout. The player is convinced the outburst were not intended to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, getting results and securing victories.”
