Spurs Boss Frank Calls Vicario Booers 'Not True Real Supporters'

Fulham Start Strong to Defeat Spurs and Increase Tension on Frank

Spurs fans who booed goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario were informed later "those individuals can't be real Tottenham fans" by boss Frank.

Tottenham conceded two goals in the first initial moments to lose 2-1 to Fulham, marking their tenth top-flight home defeat of 2025.

But the primary talking point was Fulham's second score when the keeper gave away the ball far beyond his area.

The goalkeeper came out to handle a long ball and took the ball near the sideline.

However, instead of kicking it into touch, the Italy international spun and tried to clear, but lost his footing as the ball glanced off Wilson and was controlled by Josh King.

The forward laid the ball off to Welsh midfield player Wilson, who bent a strike into the net from the touchline recorded at 36.6 yards.

Moments afterwards when the ball came to the keeper once more, some Tottenham fans jeered him.

The team were booed off at the interval, with the club 2-0 down, and once more at the final whistle.

A particular of those booing episodes really angered Frank.

"I heard a few of our supporters reportedly jeered the incident and booed after, which, in my opinion is completely unacceptable," the Dane stated about the fans' response to his goalkeeper.

"[They] cannot be real Tottenham fans that act that way. Fair enough jeering following the game, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing one another, we are behind each other moving ahead."

Tete had given the visitors a fourth-minute lead before Wilson's strike – with Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second period performance.

Former Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the next score was "completely preventable".

"I do understand the supporters' frustration," the ex-keeper added. "I know the role Vicario is performing. He's a excellent team player, he is a real leader in the dressing room but ultimately you are going to be assessed by your decisions.

"The keeper was deeply involved in what ended up to be the winning score."

'It is Part of Football, I'm a Big Man'

Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Game

Italy international Vicario is in his third campaign with Tottenham.

He said following the game that he had to take the criticism.

"That goal was a mistake of mine, I accept responsibility for that," he commented.

"My aim was to clear the ball long and I simply hit the ball in a poor way. It was an even bigger challenge to climb."

He said being booed "is part of the game".

"I am mature, how can I respond?" he continued. "We can't be influenced by the situation in the crowd. Supporters have the right to do what they think.

"It's on the team to stay more composed, to focus on our own performance. We are missing in calmness and poise to overturn results. This match is a bad defeat and it's tough to take."

'It Shocked Me No One Went Back to the Goal Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was far from an easy goal for Harry Wilson to score.

Actually it was the second most distant top division score of the season – following Tyler Adams' 43.3 metre goal for the Cherries against the Black Cats, which interestingly also occurred on the same day.

The goalscorer stated he was "a little bit taken aback" that he still had an empty net to aim for.

Ten seconds elapsed between Vicario coming out of his box and Wilson striking – which was 5 seconds after the clearance.

"I felt like the keeper was away from the area for a long time," Wilson remarked.

"It amazed me not one of the back four went back to the goal line. When not one of them defended the goal, my interest sparked somewhat.

"[Destiny] Udogie slipped as well, which gave me a little extra time. Then it was all about attempting to make the right contact and place it on target. I had a good feeling, as soon as it came off my boot, that it was heading in."

'When You're in a Poor Run, All Appears to Go Against You'

Booing Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unacceptable - Frank

Although Vicario's mistake dominated headlines, this was an overall bad day for Tottenham to continue their home ground woes.

The match was their tenth at home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League, a joint club statistic along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

The side still have home games against Frank's former club Brentford and champions Liverpool to come before the close of the year.

Just a single of those victories have come since the manager replaced his predecessor in the off-season.

"When you're down 2-0 after six minutes, there is a mountain to climb," said the boss.

"During in a poor run, all aspects seems to work against you too – the opening was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from the keeper.

"The outcome leaves us in a place where we have suffered an additional game. Every game has a unique story, this game we lost in the first six minutes.

"We just need to continue striving. The later period was significantly improved and with luck something we can utilize to develop."

Tottenham have been defeated in 4 straight at home London derbies for the initial time in the Premier League.

Furthermore they are averaging nine point five shots and three point two shots on target per game in the division – their lowest averages on file in a one season (since at least 2003-04).

Ex- Cottagers midfield player Danny Murphy stated that Frank has to endure the criticism.

"He's got accept the criticism," the pundit remarked. "He has accepted a high profile role at a huge team with enormous anticipation. There is scrutiny and duty that comes with that.

"Their showings at their stadium have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
