A spending plan that would conclude the record-setting government shutdown in US history is heading to the House of Representatives for a critical decision on midweek.
On the sixth week of the budget deadlock, lawmakers are coming back to Washington to determine if they will approve a Senate package that would finance government departments for the next eight weeks.
Majority party officials voiced optimism the funding measure would pass through the House of Representatives, notwithstanding their slim advantage. But leading opposition members pledged to fight it.
